In effect, it was the perfect garden – reflecting the glory of its creator and blessing the lives of its occupants. This was a world without corruption, pollution, exploitation or disharmony of any sort. Every plant and tree and animal was set within it in a state of ecological harmony and perfection. The Bible’s whole story begins with God creating a garden of exquisite diversity and intricate detail, which he then entrusts to the first members of the human race. The garden as a place to encounter the Creator has, quite literally, the oldest pedigree in the book.
